'Ello!

This is Static, a blog full of nothing. Read about encounters with bass-playing science teachers, an addiction to peanut butter cups, and the trials and tribulations of generally existing, as told through the eyes of a spacey teen.

Wikipedia-ing

It's 2:21am on Saturday, and I'm still up.
I like staying up late, you see; generally, there's just so many things to do before I go to sleep that I hate sleeping early. Why waste the time unconscious when you could actually be doing something?
Tonight, however, is different. Don't ask me why, but I was - still am - bored out of my mind. So, I went Wikipedia-ing.
To me, Wikipedia-ing is like web-surfing: one page leads to another, leads to another, leads to another. I started out reading about Seinfeld, a TV show. I ended up reading about Dresden, Germany. Don't ask me how! That's the beauty of Wikipedia: everything is linked. Link, link, link, link! Reading about Seinfeld to Elaine Benes to Laurence Tierany to Lord of the Rings to Elijah Wood to Everything is Illuminated to Jonathan Safran Foer to Dresden, Germany! Link, link, link! Yay!
Anyone else here like to go Wikipedia-ing? What's the oddest pair of starting-ending points you've ever had? (eg: started out with Seinfeld, ended up with Germany.) Got me? Am I making any sense? Probably not x]

So school's going okay; we started about a week and a half ago, and it's not too bad so far - although we have a History test next week - ugh! You wouldn't think we'd have learned enough to be tested, but there you go :
What makes school worse, though, is Ramadan. I'll admit it, I do not like this month. My birthday's in Ramadan, for crying out loud! No birthday party for me. Ugh! I know it's supposed to be like a holy month, but I neither like nor understand it.
I do hate living in a religion-oriented country. Here, if you're not Muslim...well, I wouldn't say you'd get shunned, but it's not only a religion to people here, it's a way of life that includes everyone around them. It's part of the culture.
Which sucks.
Sorry, but it does.

Okay, okay, enough about Ramadan. I'm trying out for the varsity volleyball team! I probably won't make it, since...well, they tend to favor the older kids over the younger (and also I'm not too great at volleball :]) but hey, what's the harm in trying? No harm! I have nothing to lose, so I just figured, "why not?", right? So. I'll let you know how that goes; the team roster's posted on Sunday.
It sucks though, because after practice is finished, you're so dead thirsty and there are always like two hours left before you can break your fast (this is only in Ramadan, by the way - all other times are fine).
Which also sucks, and is kind of enough to make me hope that I don't make the team :
It's a strange, strange world we live in.
Sorry for the oddly random blog. I'll edit it tomorrow. :]
